Job Title : Course Superintendent
Reporting To : GM / Club Manager
The Course Superintendent is a person who manages the labor, time, materials and financial resources needed to care for the turf and landscaped grounds on a golf course.
The role will be focused on ensuring the delivery of the expected levels for the pristine and immaculate conditions on course and the surrounding areas of the Club as outlined below:-
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operations
- Responsible for the overall quality and playability of the golf courses, assuring that it is maintained within budgetary guidelines
- Promotes the Club as a premier resort facility.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and disciplines all course maintenance employees.
- To supervise staff in determining the need for irrigation, seeding rates, fertilization rates, sod cutting, cutting turf grass on fairways, tees, greens, and roughs; raking sand traps, and oversee assignments to subordinate personnel.
- To ensures that subordinates provide for the proper care and cultivation of shrubs, trees, and flowers; pruning, trimming and spraying which includes the application of pesticides, fertilizer, fungicides, and insecticides to treat the course.
- To oversees repair of broken lines or valves for water system, and may perform necessary repairs in times of emergency.
- To assist in the planning and development of new irrigation systems, including redesigns and modifications of existing irrigation system.
- To ensures all workers are trained in the proper operation, care, and maintenance of equipment. Supervises maintenance and repair on assigned vehicles and equipment.
- To coordinates activities with golf department’s staff, always maintaining good public relations.
- To perform necessary general grounds maintenance work when understaffed.
- To maintain detailed records of personnel, equipment used, supplies, and schedules indicating application of fertilizers, sprays, and chemicals, and their use for each season.
- To keep daily records of course activities such as: fertilizing, cutting cups, spraying, etc., and assists in preparing reports reflecting total hours of personnel and equipment used.
- To prepare a monthly maintenance program for all work to be carried out on course.
- To prepare annual budget reflecting necessary and requested expenditures.
- To perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
- Possesses a Degree or equivalent in Agronomy or its equivalent (related field)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years spent in the capacity of a course superintendent.
- Must be able to work well under pressure
- Must be able to speak basic English
- Must be 35 years old and above.
- Must possess a pleasant personality
